Campaign Strategy

The Brief

The Challenge

Drive registrations for a flagship annual conference across a global membership of 18,000+ entrepreneurs in 60+ countries, with segmented audiences at different commitment and awareness stages.

The Approach

A sequenced 9-email funnel built around three strategic priorities: audience segmentation, progressive commitment, and a thematic content arc that sold the experience before opening registration.

The Architecture

Five distinct funnel stages, moving members from awareness to registration to pre-event confidence. Two separate registration tracks for leaders and general members, timed to maximize early momentum.

Strategic Segmentation: The Decision That Changed Everything

Rather than opening registration to all 18,000+ members simultaneously, this campaign used a tiered access model: Chapter Officers and Tier 1 Leaders received registration access first. This created internal social proof before general members were invited, drove early registrations that built visible momentum, and communicated organizational value to the members most invested in EO's leadership culture.

9 Emails. 5 Stages.

Each email served a specific function in the funnel. No filler sends. Every touchpoint was mapped to a conversion goal or audience state.

1
Awareness & Launch
All Members
Stage intent: Build desire before building urgency. Members who watched the video and engaged with the travel promo were pre-qualified for registration.
2
Content Reveal Series
All Members
Thematic arc: Glow → Illuminate → Reflect. Each learning block was revealed sequentially to build anticipation. The sequence mirrored a personal growth journey, aligning conference content with member identity.
3
Segmented Registration: Leaders First
Chapter Officers & Tier 1 Leaders
Stage intent: Build a visible registration base before the general open. When general members received their invite, the event already had momentum behind it.
4
General Registration Open
All Members
Subject line note: After three aspirational content emails, "Time to Shine" transitions from inspiration to action without losing the emotional register of the campaign.
5
Urgency & Pre-Event Confidence
Registered Members
Stage intent: Convert registered members into engaged attendees. The FOMO email and the Know Before You Go email play opposite emotional registers, both deliberately.
